History
The history of Visser Farms started when Marinus Staal and Maria Westrate were married in 1896 in the Netherlands. In 1902 they came to America and bought our muck farm on Bauer Rd and 20th Ave in Jenison, MI. Marinus and Maria had two children, Cornelius and Catherine. In the mid 1920's they hired a farm hand named Cornelius Visser from Bauer and 72nd. Cornelius Visser and Catherine Staal were married October 25, 1928.
They had ten children. Cornelius and Catherine's oldest, named Minard, farmed with his parents and he married Anna Meekhof on February 27, 1953. Minard and Anna had three children: Doug, Bev and Phil.

In 1970 Minard and Anna bought the farm on Blair street where the main cooler, washers and storage sheds are today.
Doug married Mari VanderZwaag on November 5, 1976. Doug and Mari bought her family's farm on 120th Ave that has been in Mari's family since 1861. Doug and Mari have six children: Kathy, Rob, Jodi, Mitch, Laurie, and Jon.
Phil married Cindy Koetsier on November 19, 1982. They live on the farm next door to Minard. Phil and Cindy have seven children: Andy, Casey, Jo Ellen, Jake, William, Luke and Issac.
Doug and Phil now run the farm with their father Minard. Most of their kids work on the farm, or help when they can.
We are thankful for the blessings that God has shown our family from generation to generation.
